September 2, 2011 - American National Standard (ANSI) approves and publishes standard on Workplace Violence Prevention and Intervention. This standard provides an overview of policies, processes, and protocols that organizations can adopt to help identify and prevent threatening behavior and violence affecting the workplace. GSS President Scott R. Gane, CPP is recognized as one of its committee members and authors of this important standard.

Gane spoke about the status of the Fire & Life Safety Council, of which he is the Chairman, and the direction the council will be taking in 2009.
Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards Deadline Extended - For Tier 4 facilities, the deadline for submission of the Security Vulnerability Assessment (SVA), or for an Alternative Security Program (ASP) in lieu of an SVA, for your facility has been extended from December 31, 2008 to January 12, 2009.
Chemical - Terrorism Vulnerability Information (CVI) Training Required
The information submitted to DHS for the Top-Screen (and subsequent submissions) will be protected as Chemical Terrorism Vulnerability Information to prevent release to the public. Dhs has posted the Chemical-Terrorism Vulnerability Information user training on its website at: www.dhs.gove/xprevprot/programs/gc_1181835547413.shtm Anyone who is required to submit a Top-Screen needs to go through the on-line training (about 30 minutes). All of the Gane Security Solutions staff has completed the CVI training and are prepared to assist our clients with their submissions.
On August 3, 2007 Public Law (PL) 110-53 was signed into law. Entitled Implementing Recommendations of the 9/11 Commission Act of 2007, this law creates the framework and incentives for business of all sizes and types, to perform a voluntary audit of their prepardeness for handling disasters and emergencies.
